Madness and Then

Oh what madness hides within
Lives full of hatred, hearts full of sin
This is a dark world we’re living in
Destroyed by evil again and again

Always the dark side winning the game
Hearts always crying, choked with the pain
Never any sunshine forever to rain
Driven from the Garden of Eden and then

Hearts full of misery Minds lost in torment
Life is a mystery God has no comment
We’ve been abandoned to battle alone
Satan is knocking and you’re on your own

Who do you turn to who can you trust
The world’s full of evil lost in its lust
Gold and silver all turning to rust
Soon, mankind will vanish back to the dust

What will the earth do left without man
It will rest and renew itself, as when time began
Beauty and harmony restored in the end
What was the evil here? The ego of men.

                          Kissed by an Angel

Did I tell you today that I love you
Did I notice the things that you do
Did I say how thankful I am
To have spent time with someone like you

Did I listen when your heart was troubled
Did I stop just to kiss you for fun
Was I there when you feared your future
Did I hold you till the fear was gone

Did I tell you each day that God loves you
Did I tell you He sent me to you
Because in His glorious wisdom
What was coming your way, He already knew

As I sat by your bed that last evening
I prayed for His mercy and peace
As morning was rising on the following day
I knew that your suffering had ceased

Did I tell you today that I love you
Did I tell you how much you'll be missed
Days after you passed, a whisper in my ear
" Did I tell you today that I love you"
And I knew, sent from Heaven " A Kiss"

Over the Hill and where? To Grandmothers House We Go

It’s early in the morning, Grandma arrives today
We get to go to Grandma’s house a long car ride away
We wonder what we’ll do there, we wonder what we’ll play
We like to go with Grandma, we think we want to stay

She finally arrived at our house, it took a long, long time
We thought that maybe she got lost, but that’s later in this rhyme
We loaded all of our things, our back packs and our toys
It’s just us girls, Aunt Becki and Grandma, there is no room for boys

We kind of wish that Charles, would come along for fun
We would hunt him down and lock him up by using a squirt gun
We like his magic tricks and stuff and he’s really a good sport
But finally he tricks one of us, and escapes the all girl fort

Well on to our adventure, it starts out with a hug
We’re on our way, about a mile and Grandma says, real smug
I hope you know the way guys, this way is new to me
Does anyone know which way to go, I’d like us there by three

The car was filled with chatter about the trip ahead
Where are we going, what will we do and Grandma, are we there yet
Are we there yet, are you crazy, we haven’t gone ten miles
Grandma are we there yet, and then three impish smiles

We laughed and joked and sang some songs and had a few spats
We played with toys, talked about boys and wore funny little hats
Grandma’s a good driver the best you’ll ever get
She said, hang on to your hats, we’ll be there soon, this car’s just like a jet

We zoomed along the river and finally came to rest
In a small town called Davenport, their milkshakes were the best
Now onto better places, Odessa should be next
But this is the place, in this rhyme, our journey gets a hex

Ha, ha, what a lark, Grandma missed her turn
And instead of the town Odessa, another name we learn
What do you mean Wilbur ahead, that’s not the way we go
Whew! There is another way around, the road signs says it’s so

So on we go to Odessa, hey I think we said that once before
Wow, people live out here? They must be nuts, there’s not even a store
There’s no Wally World, no K-Mart, no Penny’s nothing here at all
Oh my God, I think we’re lost, THERE’S NOT EVEN A MALL!!!

We drive and drive and soon we see a sight that gives us a real scare
We should have guessed, when we started this trip, this could be a nightmare
Is that a tornado, moving fast and heading at us for real
Is this Kansas, where is Toto, that’s Dorothy at the wheel!!!

Whew, just a little dust devil Grandma Dorothy said
There were many twisting dust devils in the miles ahead
We watched them roll across the ground, and lift into the sky
They were awesome, large or small, they really made things fly

After we got to Grandma’s we took a cool refreshing swim
We ate some dinner, watched some movies and really settled in
The next few days were loads of fun, shopping, swimming and out to lunch
We even met our Great Grandmother, we confused her, a bunch

She wanted to know our names and where do we belong
This is Jessie, Sam and Vicki and Dani stayed at home
And who did you say your father is, asked our Great Grandmother
I hope you bring Dani next time, I would like to meet your little brother

It was great fun and we hope next year to do it all again
We don’t know how, we don’t know where, we don’t even know when
But we do know that Grandma has just as much fun as we do
And every summer we’ll do it again, something fun and something new

A Gentle Man

I know how much you miss me
I miss you that much too
I want to share a secret
That God told me is true

 I am but a whisper
Of things that are to be
So when you feel a gentle breeze
Remember that it’s me

I cannot be a rainbow
For that is just to see
I cannot be a raindrop
For tears are not for me

God promised me a future
Of beauty, joy and peace
So when your cheek is gently kissed
It’s me and not the breeze

So keep your thoughts on heaven
And do all that you can
To guide your precious family
And be a gentle man

For strength is not in anger
But in the words of peace
It takes a strength unknown to man
To fall upon your knees

And ask your God for guidance
And for a helping hand
It is the Badge of Honor
Of a truly gentle man

In Tribute

As the sun comes up in the early dawn
The sleep, still in my eyes
Dew lays thick upon my path
I stop, in wonder and surprise

I sit and watch from my vantage point
As all of nature plays her part
And I’m filled with love, hope and joy     Through my soul and in my heart

The trees all reaching for the sun
A few clouds slowly drifting by
Flowers all dancing in colors bright
And the grass bows gently to the sky

The river runs swiftly from rock to rock
Its waves all tumbling on the sand
A murmuring sound of Thank You for your touch
Comes from the Willows in the Meadow
where they stand

The breeze plays softly like a string quartet
And all the birds begin to sing
Imagine all of this on an early morning dawn
Is nature’s tribute to her King

A Summer Kiss

The raindrops of summer
Are full of surprise
For in them are flowers
And rainbows in disguise

They’re fresh and inviting
Often warm and never cold
Full of fairies and unicorns
And pots filled with gold

They tap on your window
And hide on the sill
You can watch them do cart wheels
If you sit very still

They’re like little court jesters
Always clowning around
First splat on your nose
Then splat on the ground

They’re a kiss from the heavens
A gift from above
A message of gentleness
From the Creator of Love

Season of Hope

Sunshine and beauty arise in my soul
Love is a gift found within
Oh what a wonder, the world’s all aglow
Now it is spring time again

Gone is the cold of a brisk winters day
Gone is the ice and the snow
Now in it’s place are children at play
And willows and flowers that grow

Oh what a wonder the world in new growth
Oh what a wonder the sun
Souls are uplifted, sadness is gone
Spring time has finally begun

Spring is so precious, life is so full
Love and new growth all around
Birds on the wing singing new songs
My feet barely stay on the ground

What a wonderful feeling the warmth of the sun
The feel of a soft summer breeze
My spirit is uplifted, new life has begun
There’s a whisper of hope thru the trees
